* Her nickname, "Shioi", is an alternate reading of "401". 4 = "Shi"; 0 = "O"; 1 = "I".
* She was launched on the 11th of March 1944.
* Expanded as a target ship, off Pearl Harbor, on the 31st of May 1946.
** The reason she was a target ship by the US Navy was to prevent her from falling into the hands of the Soviet Union before the Cold War.
* Wreck located on the 17th of March 2005 in 820 m (2690 ft) of water off Barbers Point, Oahu, Hawaii. Her bow is broken off and lies near the rest of the hull, connected to the main wreck by a debris field. The main wreck sits upright.
