General Information

Her nickname, "Iyo", is an alternate reading of "14". 1 = "I"; 4 = "Yo".
She was launched on the 14th of March 1944.
Surrendered on the 27th of August 1945 and sunk as target on the 28th of May 1946.
Wreck located on the 16th of February 2009 in 800 m (2625 ft) of water off Barbers Point, Oahu, Hawaii. She is in two pieces; the bow is broken off at the forward end of the hangar bay, with the hangar door missing, while the hangar itself remains attached to the hull. The bow section rests to starboard of the main wreck and is badly mangled where the break-up occurred, but is in good condition otherwise.
