The Improvement Arsenal (改修工廠) is a main menu function only accessible when using AkashiAkashi
Akashi Kai
as Secretary"1st fleet's flagship". This menu allows to improve and upgrade equipment.

  • What equipment can be improved/upgraded is determined by:
    • The 2nd ship in the fleet (the "Helper"). See the full list here.
    • The day of the week (Japanese time).

How to Access

The Improvement Arsenal button in the home port

From Home Port
  1. Hover over the Arsenal icon.
    • For Android, press and hold the icon.
  2. The Improvement Arsenal icon will slide out from beneath it as shown.
  3. Click on it to access the Improvement Arsenal.
From Other Menus
  1. Click on the crane/clock in the bottom left.

Menu Functions

The Selection Screen for Equipment
Equipment Selection
  • Equipment List - Displays the equipment that are eligible for upgrading. Selecting an equipment will open the improvement menu.
    • Halo - Equipment in the list have a halo around it (unless not possessed). There are 3 different halos:
      • Blue - For equipment improvable without any particular helper.
      • Light Green - For equipment available thanks to the helper, but not upgradable.
      • Deep Green - For equipment available thanks to the helper, and upgradable into another equipment.
  • Resource Cost - Displays the resource cost of upgrading that equipment. It only displays the resource cost for 0~5 upgrades, with costs beyond that will only be displayed if the improved equipment is selected.
  • Select for Improvement - Allows to pick that equipment to be upgraded.
  • Stockpile - Displays the current stockpile of development materials Development material and improvement materials Improvement material.

  • Guarantee Improvement - Enable the improvement success guarantee. This increases the development and improvement material costs.
  • Cancel Improvement - Goes back to the equipment selection menu.
  • Begin Improvement - Start the improvement process.
  • Information Box - Displays any required equipment fodder and the current stockpile of required equipment.
Costs Stages

The cost levels are:

Improved Target Note
0 ~ 5 +1 ~ +6 Costs Development material/Improvement material and sometime fodders
6 ~ 9 +7 ~ +10 Costs Development material/Improvement material and sometime fodders
7 ~ 9 +8 ~ +10 In rare cases, it costs items on top of the 6~9 cost
10 upgrade Costs Development material/Improvement material and sometime fodders and/or items

Improving Equipment

The following is how to improve equipment.

  1. The equipment available for improvement/upgrade depends on the current "Helper ship" (2nd ship next to Akashi), as well as the day of the week.
    • See the full Helper list here.
  2. Click on the "Select for Improvement" (改修工廠選択) button on the equipment to improve. This will bring up a list of all the selected equipment possessed.
    • The button will be greyed out if any of a particular equipment is not possessed or not accessible,
    • Only unequipped equipment can be improved,
    • The items of selected equipment in the brought-up list will not show the ones equipped on a land base or a ship in expedition,
    • Equipment equipped by ships can be unequipped by clicking on the Remove (外す) button. The ship's name and her level can be viewed by hovering over the button,
    • Equipment must be at Max-Improved and unlocked in order to be upgraded to another equipment.
  3. Click on the equipment to improve, then click on Improve (改修) to begin. Clicking on Return (戻る) goes back to equipment selection.
  4. Click on the Begin Improvement! (改修開始!) button to start the improvement. Clicking on Cancel Improvement (改修中止) goes back to equipment selection.
    • Improving an equipment will alwais cost some resources, some Development material DevMats and Improvement material screws, and may also consume some fodder equipment,
    • Upgrading an equipment may additionaly consumes Items,
    • Locked, equipped, and already improved equipment cannot be used as fodder.
  5. Improvements have a chance to fail (see below).
    1. The equipment being improved is never lost,
    2. Items are never lost,
    3. Materials (Development materialImprovement material) and any fodder equipment are lost on failure,
    4. The toggle marked Guarantee Improvement (改修確実化) will make all improvements succeed in exchange for increased costs.
    • Akashi Kai has a higher success rate than her base version.
Notes
  • It is recommended to use the guaranteed improvement toggle when dealing with expensive improvements and/or rare fodder at Improved+6 and beyond.

Improvement Success Rates

Only Akashi's remodel affect the improvement success rate. Her level does not affect rates.

  • It is highly recommended that she be remodeled to Kai as soon as possible, to maximize improvement success rates.

Trivia

  • The arsenal has its how BGM in background, and this BGM may change when upgrading certain equipment (e.g. the Keiun).
