This is the improved version of the successful Type 97 12.7cm twin dual-purpose anti-aircraft gun, mounted (among others) aboard the Japanese Navy’s latest mass-produced destroyer model: The Type D Destroyers. The planned improved barrels for firing at high angles, according to the war lessons on the pre-existing model, was equipped on the first group of the Matsu class destroyers and has the possibility to show good combat effectiveness.
