This is a dual-purpose single mount developed for use aboard the Japanese Navy’s latest mass-produced destroyer model: the Type D Destroyers. The successful Type 97 12.7cm twin dual-purpose mount was reintroduced into service as a shielded, single dual-purpose mount. Furthermore, the gun barrels incorporated planned improvements to the firing speed at high angles. Equipped aboard the first batch of Matsu class destroyers, it has the possibility to show effective use.
