Introduction

対艦戦闘及び対空戦闘両面で優れた実用性を発揮した本砲は、あのフレッチャー級駆逐艦や、レイテ沖で栗田艦隊主力から
タフィー3護衛空母群を護って奮戦した護衛駆逐艦などにも、主砲として装備されました。

An excellent dual-purpose gun developed and deployed by the US.
It was extensively used by US destroyers in single gun mounts.
This main gun displayed excellent anti-ship and anti-air capabilities as the main guns of the Fletcher-class destroyers as they escorted Taffy 3 against the Kurita Fleet during Leyte.
