Ship Speculation
- Teruzuki, the second Akizuki-class destroyer, is speculated to appear, based on the tweet given on July 23, 2015.
- Fleet Oiler Hayasui will be obtainable as a new auxillary ship.
- Given her historical armament, it is possible that she will be able to equip AA guns, Seaplanes and possibly Torpedo Bombers, as she had a small aviation wing of Type 0 Recon Seaplanes and Ryuuseis.
- Five more ships will be obtainable.
- Unconfirmed rumors say this includes an Italian Destroyer.
- From interviews held in the June 2015 issue of Comptiq Magazine, Shoukaku and Zuikaku are suspected to receive their Kai Ni during this event.
- This will require an item only obtainable during the event.
- Some believe that the Kai Ni will not happen until after the event is over.
New Equipment
- Judging by incoming pictures, there will be five new pieces of equipment:
- Two torpedo bombers, possibly relating to Murata (a pilot from the Akagi who transfered to Shoukaku)
- a new drum canister of some sort
- a 120mm gun
- Rice balls
Map and theme Speculation
Operation SN was a campaign in which Japan attempted to establish airfields in the southern Solomon Islands, including a seaplane base on Tulagi and an airfield on neighboring Guadalcanal.
On August 7 the Allies launched Operation Watchtower with the intention of capturing these airfields; the airfield on Guadalcanal quickly fell and was renamed Henderson Field.
The IJA was lax in their response at first, believing this to be only a reconnaissance in force; however, Admiral Yamamoto thought otherwise. He sent naval forces to challenge the Americans' sea presence in the region, thus beginning a running siege that would last for five months, with the Americans owning the seas by day and the IJN ferrying in troops under the cover of darkness.
The event will likely emphasize fighting land installations and fending off air raids. The numerous nocturnal encounters in the Guadalcanal campaign suggest night battles will be prevalent.
Mechanics Speculation
The introduction of a new mechanic might be tied to planes as there have been several new articles that mentioned about adjusting the plane mechanics. And since this operation might have a lot to do with fighting installations. They may be tweaking the planes to be able to fight installations in a different way compared to before hand.
As of 8/9, this is believed to be plane leveling: as planes do more damage/shoot down enemies, they shall progressively get better. However, if planes take too many losses, they will be reduced in their effectiveness.
The Summer 2015 Event "Counterattack! The Second Operation SN" is slated to start on August 10, 2015, and will last for about 20 days. The event will be based on Operation SN, the Japanese plan to establish air bases in the southern Solomon Islands; however, there was no actual second Operation SN historically.
This will be a large-scale event that will contain combined fleet operations and ship locking mechanics. There will also be a new system introduced into the game that will be equipment related.
