• Her name means "Morning Sun".
• She was launched on the 13th of March 1899 as a Battleship.
• She was remodeled as:
  • A "1st-class coastal defense ship" on September 1921
  • A "submarine depot ship" on the 1st of April 1923
  • A "repair ship" on the 16th of August 1937
• Torpedoed and sunk by USS Salmon, on the 25/26th of May 1942.

• Oldest ship girl in all major Ship Girl series.
• Fought in the Russo-Japanese War.
• Credited with helping sink multiple Russian ships and participated in major battles such as the Battle of the Yellow Sea and Tsushima.
