Launching from Land Based airfields, it was deployed in anti-naval roles against enemy vessels as well as for bombardment of enemy airfields it was the Navy's main land based bomber. Although late in the war the loss of air superiority led to heavy losses, the "Type 1 Land Attacker" indisputably fought bravely as the core of the Naval Aviation's attacking forces.
