''The "Shiden" was a land-based fighter developed from the "[[Kyoufuu Kai|Kyoufuu]]" seaplane fighter.<br>Although it was long-awaited, this initial model had many flaws, including the mid-wing arrangement derived from the "Kyoufuu", the resulting long telescopic landing gear, poor visibility, and under-wing gun pods.<br>It flew sorties during the [[wikipedia:Formosa Air Battle|Formosa Air Battle]] and Operation Sho-Go. This aircraft was later improved into the famous "Shiden Kai".
